2 Year Old Not Having Heat

My female who turned two in January 2014 has only had 1 heat at 9 months old. She is fine and healthy, I hope. I had a vet tell me to spay her?? She is well bred and doing well but??

My Aussie had 2 heats before she was a yr old back to back and I decided I wasn't going thru that mess again or always keeping her closely guarded from other males in the neighborhood so I had her spayed and it's a relief.
