Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com Newsletter #026
Hello <>,
In Case of Emergency...
Would you know what to do for your Aussie in case of a medical emergency? Would you be in a state of panic or would you know what steps you needed to take to apply first aid and even save their lives? In putting together our series on dog bites a common scenario is a dog biting a person, but your dog could be bitten by another dog. Of course they could also be bitten by another animal like a coyote, racoon or snake. This can be even more frightening of a thought if we don't know what to do in these situations. Do you know how to treat shock, abdominal wounds, chest injuries, poisoning, bleeding?
For peace of mind and having the knowledge you need when you need it I recommend every Aussie owner invest some time to learn first aid for their Aussie and have a first aid kit ready. Dr. Andrew Jones is a practicing veterinarian who has put together a guide book for pet owners that explains what you need to know about first aid. This is something we don't like to think about so we wind up putting it off. But you don't want to put it off until it is too late. You can find out more right now by visiting this page using our affiliate link.
All the Best,
Anton

Even More New Articles About Dog Bite Issues
Problems related to dog bites are common so I've been adding a series of articles to the site. Since the last newsletter I've also added... Infection from Dog Bites, How to Treat Dog Bites, First Aid for Dog Bites and, just in case it's your dog that is the one getting bit and not the one doing the biting... Treating Dog Snake Bites.
The Aussies and The Author
Author Mary Jane McKittrick and illustrator Bob Ostrom have created a series of books introducing children to core values through the humorous antics of Boomerang, the Australian Shepherd dog and Halley's Comet, a silver streak of a cat. The four-legged “kids” are guided back to good behavior by their adoptive parents, Harold and Edna Sanders, in the small Southern town of Shady Pines.
Mary Jane has been so kind as to share an article with our readers. It's called "The Aussies and The Author".

Photo of the Month
It snowed last night here and as I look outside everything is covered in a white carpet of the cold stuff. I just don't want summer to end. So this month I've posted one of our best photos of summer. Karen and Ron's Aussie, Oliver, shows us how relaxing at the lake is really done.

Dog Quote for Today
"I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source."
