Another Dog as a Playmate?

Hi All! I am helping my parents (both 75) find a playmate for their 17 month Aussie/Norwegian Elk Hound mix.

Sydney lost 2 of her playmates within the last 6 months and is very lonely. I'm worried that if I get them another Aussie it will be too much on them.
