Aussie Shedding More Than Usual... Summer Coat?

Hi All! We have a 1 year old red-tri Aussie, Bindi. She has been shedding a lot lately, and more than usual. She has lost almost all of her top coat and all we see on her is her undercoat. Is this normal for a summer-->winter coat? Just need some reassurance from other Aussie owners! Thanks!

I also have a red tri. He has been shedding more this summer due to the heat, but has not started blowing summer coat yet. Still, I think it is unusual that your dog is shedding topcoat more than undercoat, mine have never done that. I take my 3yr old guy to a groomer which I find very helpful in keeping the bulk out of his feathering. Perhaps a reputable groomer can tell you what’s going on there?

We have had three Aussies. Our two black tri did not have a shedding problem. Our present Aussie is a red merle and seems to shed constantly. I wonder if it is typical of the red merle trait.
