Australian Shepherd With Separation Anxiety Chewing Up Stuff

We have an 11 month old Australian Shepherd. He loves to play with other dogs and he is very social. My husband works from home so he is always with him. When we leave him home alone he chews up stuff.

If we get another Aussie will it help?

Home alone

Aussies are very bonded to their people and so, being herding dogs, they do not like it when the "herd" separates. My two yr old gets upset when one of us leaves, but we do not make a fuss about it so he calms down. We have been crating him when we go out, since he was a puppy. That keeps him out of trouble and it also calms him to be in his den. When your husband is home all the time it makes it even harder for the dog to be alone, so training him to a crate can give him a sense of security.
