Bryn and Sera are both certified therapy dogs who usually work with Joliet Area Community Hospice. However, on a sunny Thursday in April, they were able to change their venue a bit to have fun with kids for a day!
Bryn and Sera love to entertain, so they had the opportunity to do that when Lewis University in Romeoville, IL asked if they would come to Take Your Kids to Work Day. We talked about dog safety and demonstrated the proper way to approach a dog, what should be done if a strange dog approaches what to do if you should see a lost dog. Then we had fun. Bryn and Sera both love to do tricks. Sera loves to play a guessing game in which she guesses which number the kids are thinking of. Of course, Sera does this from scent discrimination, but the kids could not figure it out. So, is Sera smarter than a 5th grader? Bryn absolutely loves kids. I believe she thinks that they and her are the same. Her special trick is to say her prayers, turn off a light and then roll up in a blanket. Bryn also like belly rubs a lot. They were the highlight of Take Your Kids to Work Day. I hope that we be able to do this again next year.
