Getting New Puppy

I am getting a puppy in a couple a days, been reading all about them. I will be starting training first thing. I am taking a couple days off of work when I get him so I can break him in to his new house. I work 6 to 7 hours a day most days. I have a hour lunch. My question is will he be ok when I am at work. I will play and walk him in the morning before work. And most of the time I would be able to get home at lunch for a walk. Just want to make sure he will be ok.

We got our aussie last year about this time. It is do-able. We've always had smaller dogs, and not as active dogs. So, the aussie required some adjustment, due to it's energy level. We exercise ours and play in the mornings, and that makes the day much easier. We find that if we don't do that, it is harder on her (and us). Adequate exercise is really the key for us. She can stay in our garage in a crate for that length of time, but it doesnt work as well if we dont give her something to do and exercise in the am. They are happy dogs...when they are worn out and content.

Training is a must...they are very rambunctious and playful as puppies. We had small children so we could not tolerate play biting, and with some attention and constant training when among people, we were able to remedy that in a few months.

Your puppy will be okay, but I suggest that you purchase a crate and leave the puppy in the crate while you are at work.

It is safer for a really young puppy so it will not get into anything, such as chewing furniture, while you are not there.

Trust me from experience, it is safer for your house and the puppy while you are away. E-mail me if you want more information on this experience.
