How Can I Train My 7-Month-Old Australian Shepherd to Help Herd Sheep?

How can I train my 7-month-old Aussie to help herd sheep? She has been shocked by the electric fence so she is scared to go in. I have to pick her up and carry her over the fence.

Electric fence issues

I assume this is the fence around your pasture, not a dog containment fence? Unfortunately, Aussies never forget bad experiences! It would take a long time and a lot of training and coaxing to get her to go past it. As for sheep herding, they definitely have it ingrained, some more talented than others. If you can find a class or two in herding that would give you a good start. If you have some experience with it yourself, you may be able to train her on your own.
