How To Buy An Australian Shepherd Puppy?

I had an Aussie's as a kid, but he was just picked out of a litter from the ranch down the street. 40 years later, looking to buy an Aussie from an Arizona breeder.

Does anybody have a breeder recommendation? And/or a list of questions a breeder should be able to answer?

I'm looking for an Aussie puppy for Christmas. How do I find a reputable breeder in my area? I don't want a puppy-mill dog. Does the AKC have a rating/review of breeders?

always look at rescue centers near by. i looked at some aussie rescue centers (look up 'aussie rescue centers near me' and it should pop up) and i found a bunch of aussie puppies. i know you might want a pure bred with a championship bloodline but think about how many perfectly fine aussie puppies are out there.
