Black Tri with red carrier
by: PAm

When I got my black tri I was partly convinced she would turn into a red tri. Her gums were liver color and her black coat had a underlying brown color. I was concerned so I contacted the breeder who assured me she was indeed a black tri but with a red carrier. 17 yrs later she was still a black tri with that underneath brown.

If your dog has a red or red merle parent, it is red factored. Otherwise, the method for determining if your dog Jared factored is to run a simple DNA test. It is available from any number of labs, including Healthgene and Animal Genetics.
