The Kuranda dog bed is the latest trend in dog pet supplies and it is quickly making its mark in animal shelters, dog training facilities and other places where multiple dogs are housed at one time. But these unique, innovative beds aren't just meant for institutional purposes; they are just as appropriate for home use and, in fact, are becoming the bed of choice among dog owners worldwide.
So what makes these beds so special? It's simple really—they offer better support, cooling and comfort for any size dog. And better yet, they are virtually indestructible, which is why animal shelters and training facilities particularly prefer them. That unbreakable quality should also appeal to owners of particularly active and destructive dogs who may go through traditional dog beds like they were nothing.
The Kuranda company began in the town of Kuranda, Australia, over 30 years ago. It was purchased in 1987 and moved to Glen Burnie, Maryland, where it has been based ever since.
The original goal of the company was to build a better dog bed, which they did using nylon stretched across PVC pipe. Eventually, they moved from PVC to aluminum, which only increased the durability of the Kuranda dog bed that much more. Today, they continue to tinker with their design and make improvements, all with your dog's comfort in mind.

Want to reclaim your bed? Why not get your Aussie a bed of their own?
While the original design was round, the modern version is rectangular with durable fabric stretched across a poly resin or aluminum frame, making a platform that is elevated several inches off the floor. There is a choice of fabrics available, including nylon, vinyl and vinyl weave mesh and the beds come in a variety of sizes to accommodate all breeds.
What really makes the Kuranda dog bed stand out is the fact that its unique design provides even support, which makes it extremely comfortable, even if it may not look that way. But when you consider that pillow beds can be too soft and can get lumpy over time, like a regular bed pillow, you can begin to appreciate the difference. This extra support of the Kuranda bed can work for dogs of all sizes and ages and it is particularly helpful for active and working breeds like the Australian Shepherd that are prone to joint issues.
Aside from extra support, because they are raised off the ground these beds also allow for air circulation, which makes them cooler, another advantage for working breeds but helpful for any dog in the warmer summer months. And they are much easier to keep clean than traditional, pillow style dog beds, which can retain dirt, dust and allergens even if you clean the outer slip cover regularly.
Finally, the Kuranda dog bed is more durable. Even the worst chewer won't be able to destroy this sturdy bed, which means you won't have to spend tons of money buying replacement beds. If you regularly find yourself at the pet store or in the pet department after cleaning up the latest ruined bed, you'll definitely welcome the fact that Kuranda beds are made to last.
You know that a comfortable bed is important to you, so why wouldn't the same be true for your best friend? Why settle for a too soft, too flimsy, too hot pillow style bed when Kuranda beds give you a much better option? If you're looking for comfort, support and durability then try out one of these frame style beds and your dog will thank you for it!
