Hello, I have a big issue... I have a 1yr 5mo old Aussie named Sausage and he hasn't had the best of experiences with children and if I could go back into time and change his first meetings with them I would but as we all know that cannot be done.
He has snapped, snarled and nipped at children. A child from ages 18 months until about 13 he just does not like. If he hears the voice of a child he will snarl and bark and act as though he is irritated just by the thought of them.
I have seriously considered getting him a muzzle but I want to find a way to fix the issue not just mask it with a piece of equipment. Please if you know what I should do let me know! I'm in desperate need of fixing this! Thank you so much!
Note from Anton: This needs serious attention. Daniel Stevens addresses these kinds of behaviour problems in his dog training program here. Whether you get Daniel's program or get other professional advise I recommend you do it right away. As I mentioned in another comment there are dog bite lawyers who build their entire careers going after owners of biting dogs. And you don't want to be responsible for having a child disfigured of course. In the meantime keep Sausage away from all children and use a muzzle if necessary.
