My male Aussie is 1-1/2. He is an alpha male and when around other dogs he wants to be the leader. He also wants to be the leader - or shall I say "boss" of selective humans too.
Example: Today I took him to the dog park. There was only one man and his dog there. Our dogs had a good time running around together for about an hour. Then suddenly, my dog started barking at the man as if the man did something my dog didn't like. I wished I had been paying more attention because I don't know what happened.
Problem is my dog DOES NOT back off when I tell him to. I've tried and tried to get him to stop a behavior when I tell him to, but he doesn't listen and will keep right on doing what he's doing.
Maybe I am not strict enough. He is very head strong and the most intelligent and alert dog I've ever had. But tough to get him to obey when I really mean it.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this behavior?
