Our New Aussie Won't Obey My Wife

We got a 3-year-old Aussie at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend and he quickly established me as the leader. He exceeded our expectations in his obedience. However, now that I'm back at work, he's not extending the same courtesy to my wife who is at home with him.

One of our rules is that he not go upstairs. A word from me keeps him downstairs, but when I'm gone he'll rush upstairs and hunker down so my wife has to physically remove him. Help!
