Overly Submissive Behavior From 3 Month Old Miniature Aussie

by Garry Boozer
(Granbury, Tx)

We adopted a 3 month old Miniature Aussie. She’s reddish brown merle. She is a very sweet dog. Displays no aggression, sleeps half the day. She is kept outdoors on a farm.

Problem: she greets us with submissive posturing. She actually turns her butt to us and shapes her body into a u-shape, she lays down on her back. What to do?

Puppy behaviour

I think she is just exhibiting normal puppy behavior. They all go through a sensitive fear stage. I would ignore it, just pet her and give her encouraging words as you do normally. It should disappear as she gets older.
