Love at First Sight
Being in graduate school, we knew we couldn't get a dog and provide the love and attention that it needed. But that didn't stop us from looking and thinking about the kind of dog that would join our family. We knew we wanted a good-sized dog, as well as one that is intelligent. We eventually landed on our top three breeds and increased the intensity of our search after graduation.
In January 2013, after looking at shelters and contacting a few breeders, I got a note from Heart of Gold Aussies in Houston, Ohio, with a picture of a Blue Merle female that was ready for adoption. We knew in an instant she was our dog. We went out to the working horse farm the next day and picked her up. Nearly a year and a half later, we couldn't be happier. She's incredibly smart, extremely well-behaved, protective and playful, and very affectionate. She perfectly completes our family and I can't imagine life without our little freckled-face Pepper!
