Pricked Ears In Home Companion Puppies

by Melody
(Stantonsburg, NC)

Who has had a pricked (upright) eared Aussie whose ears did not fall after 17 weeks? Our other Aussies had fallen ears that stayed to standard through both puppy and adult teething events. This puppy started out with Aussie ears. I have observed that when she is sleeping one ear is slowly bending over. (Companion, not show dog, to be spayed, AKA papers.)

Prick Ears
by: Anonymous

Our dog is 20 weeks and has had prick ears since about 14 weeks. I have heard that if they still have prick ears by 16 weeks, they will always be prick ears because the cartilage has already hardened. You can not get them to stay down for even more than a day or two with taping after that. If you want the ears to stay down, you should start taping or gluing by 14 weeks. I like his prick ears, makes him look different and we never planed on showing him.
