Squamous Cell Carcenoma

I recently lost my 10 year old Aussie to Squamous (sp) cell carcenoma of the mouth. She also had multiple seizures after it was diagnosed. The only symptom that she had was bad breath a month before she died. She had yearly dentals done. Has anyone had this happen to their pet? I have two other Aussie's and want to try to do all I can so that they don't have the same outcome. Any comments will be appreciated.
