Stressed 4 Year Old Red Merle Australian Shepherd

by Carol Matheys

This is Trip

This is Trip

We just brought a red tri (10 weeks old) into our household yesterday.

Our 4 year old female red merle is the best most lovable dog anyone would ever want. While playing the pup Skye is biting Trip the 4 year old.

Trip has played with adult dogs male and female without any problems at all. No biting no growling nothing just playing.

Trip is not correcting Skye the pup and now does not want to be in the house where the pup is. She will not lay on the back deck if the pup is there and this is a awfully sad situation.

Please can someone help me with this?

Time will tell.

Just give it time. As similar thing happened in our house. The older dog will come round when the puppy settles as it gets older.

sharp teeth

I have a male Aussie who would not play with my daughter's puppy for quite sometime and I am sure it was because of those teeth. They play all the time now and my Aussie allows the 2 year old to grab at his neck.
