Teenage Attitude

I believe my Aussie is a teenager! She has selective hearing and sometimes doesn't listen! Yikes, does anyone have problems like that?

My aussie is 8 months. She DEFINITELY has selective hearing. There are times when she comes when I call and other times she just looks at me like "What are you gonna do about it?" And just sits there. She does this during play as well. I heard its a "alpha thing" you have to be tough and in charge. You have to be dominant otherwise I guess they see you as their equal and don't respect you. I have yet to figure this out because my auss is also very sensitive so if I raise my voice angrily she over reacts. Let me know if you come up with an answer. They can be extremely stubborn.

We have a 9 month old Aussie and he will test the limits by not listening or ignoring us. His trainer said that he is seeing what he can get away with...amazing how smart Aussies are. But, he know the word no and when he does that, I give him a firm NO and call him again and give him lots of praise when he comes, Aussies also love to please their human.
