In 2009 I lost my Miniature Schnauzer "Fritz" to old age. I brought Fritz home when he was only two months old, and sent him home to God when he was almost 15 years old. He was my friend, and loyal companion. I will miss him always.
Shortly after Fritz passed, I found myself at the Denver Dumb Friends League where I met CoCo. CoCo was a 5 or 6 year Aussie Shepherd mix that had endured an extremely difficult life.
It was love at first sight :)
CoCo came home with me that same day and it was if we had known one another all our lives. There was a brief "re-adjustment" period but after CoCo realized she was loved, safe, and had a forever home, she quickly dialed right in.
Life with CoCo was great! She was incredibly smart, obedient, protective, loyal, loving and playful. Truth be told, I can't recall ever having a bad day with her.
CoCo went with me everywhere she could and she loved car rides! Next to long walks and tummy rubs, rides in the Jeep where her favorite.
I lost CoCo this past December following an illness that she could not be saved from. My heart broke when I knew I'd have to send her home to God's green fields.
I held her closely, and cried like a baby while telling her over and over how much I loved her, what a good girl she was and how happy I am that I was chosen to be her forever friend.
I softly kissed her head, bid farewell to my girl, and CoCo went to sleep… I pray God was there to welcome her to Heaven with a cookie in his hands. :)
RIP girl… You are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.
