I do not know how we managed to raise our oldest son without the help of my Bogart! We found Bogart at a Aussie rescue when he was nine months old. He made his way there because the people who bought him as a pup had no idea what Mini-Aussie was except an extremely cute puppy.
I knew we wanted an Aussie after "baby-sitting" my daughter-in-law's Australian Shepherd girl for over a year (they couldn't keep her in their on campus apartment). Dakota was (and still is) Pappy's girl. She is a great dog and I knew I wanted my own!
Within days we knew we had found the "other child" we wanted! As typical every move made at home had a little red shadow. It didn't take Boogie long to figure out his "job". He makes sure his bowl if always full (he will bring and lay my feet when empty) and to see that our 17 year old son knows when to get up and come to eat at the table.
In the morning, open my son's door and tell Bogart to get him up, he runs to his bed and licks him until he wakes up. When we are ready to eat and food is on the table, tell him "time to eat" he will go find Micheal and will do whatever it takes to get him to come (bark, grab his hand, jump on him.
Bogart sees himself as an extension of me. In our pack its me (pappy), Bogart, Micheal (my youngest son), my wife (drammie), my oldest son, their dog Dakota, and then my daughter-in-law (when they are in) and you best know your place! For our pack it could never work any other way. I just look forward to what my Boogie will be able to do over the 14 plus years!
