When To Neuter My Australian Mini Sheppard

by David
(Greenwood, Indiana)

There is some controversy for the correct time to neuter an Australian Sheppard Mini. 6 months seems to be the most recommended. Is this correct?

Thanks

After maturity
by: Anonymous

No dog of any breed should be neutered before fully maturing. Testosterone plays an important role in closing the growth plates at the proper time to help prevent future joint and ligament issues. Six months may also occur during the second fear period and result in a lifelong distrust of the vet.
