Why Is My Austrailian Shepherd Becoming More Aggressive?

I have a 4 year old Australian Shepherd. He was given to me about 3 months ago, and he seems to be very timid. Not sure if he was possibly abused in the past or not. He was originally an outside dog, but I have kept him inside since I've had him. He is very gentle towards me, however, seems to be growing more and more aggressive, lately, towards other members of my family (who live in the same household as I) as well as other animals at our home. Why is this? Help? I don't want to have to get rid of him, but I also can't have him snapping at everyone else around me either.

Aggression

Try exercise - throwing a ball, frisbee, rope, anything he can retrieve, take for walks, find an agility class or other type of class were he can release energy. Do you have a dog park close? Maybe try to find a time where it is not very crowded and let him run.

Hi,
Is he neutered?
If not do that 1st. He is becoming more territorial and dominant. What do you do to correct this behavior.
You need to socialize him and he is not too old for an obedience class.
